So had the staples out yesterday. Wasn't so bad. took some extra pain med. and Abesol rubbed on bum, I had around the house. (Numbing stuff usually used on gums). I think I am dong good but the swollen bum slice is still annoying and hard to work with. More sitz baths I guess. I was doing one a day but think I'll have to up it to 2x or more. Swelling is still there. Felt better for a while and then gets worse again. Dang. Two steps forward and one step back.

Got some questions answered and just wanted to go home fast. I don't like going out much yet. Just to go for walks everyday. Then back to safety of home and bathroom. How long do the fathom pains last? Mine are pretty annoying.

Also when my bag rubs on the stoma (Oh I named her Bubbles) it hurts major. Has actually felt raw the last 2 days. Will look at it when I change flange tomorrow. Dr. didn't say anything about how to fix that.

I showed my stomach scar to a friend who was an OR nurse for 30 years and she said I had an excellent scar. Very tight and straight. Oh good. Wish it would good away.

Also question- I feel like I can't eat more than a cup of soup at a time or I throw up or just feel like I am going to. I have lost some weight but not too bad yet. Need to check out a scale. Never have liked them much.

I'm rambling a little. It's 5:00 am and have been up for awhile. Will I ever sleep thru the night again? Bathroom needs, pain or hunger seem to wake me up every night. Does this go away???

Hope you are all doing better.

I haven't slept through the night for a few years now. If it wasn't insomnia it was the kids, if it wasn't my UC flare it was emptying the bag. I feel your pain!

My appetite changed after surgery. I thought it would be temporary but three months later it still hasn't returned. I don't eat as much as I used to and have no desire at all anymore for junk food. I don't know what's normal and what's not after surgery, appetite wise, but if a cup of soup is all you can handle in one sitting just go with that for now -- smaller, more frequent meals.

You're still "fresh" out of surgery and it's going to take a while for your body to get back to normal.

I didn't have much of an appetite post-op...I want to say it was probably around 2 months after that I felt like eating more. I did eat small amounts 6 times a day - high protein foods, too - and always had a snack next to me so I could nibble. Pretzels are good for snacking because you get the sodium, too.

Yes, I do sleep through the night, about 8 hours, without emptying and I eat dinner at 7pm.

Hang in there, it will get better:)

Your appetite should increase gradually. But the vomiting worries me. Did you ask your dr. about that? I don't think that sounds right, unless your are just totally stuffing yourself.

I was an insomniac for a couple of months after surgery. I think is was a mix of pain meds and pain. Every thing was uncomfortable when I'd lie down. And when I took the meds, they made me feel so groovy, I wasn't tired and was on this site at all hours of the night. :P

Your lucky your scar is nice and strait. Mine looks like a zig zag. what's the deal with that?! Not that they look terrific anyway, but it would be nice for it to at least be strait. lol
