Step 2 of 3 was on September 1st.  A week in the hospital, insufficient pain meds, and a week at home later, I've gone from being very sore to being in deep pain.

Two days ago I started writhing in pain and it feels like knives are being jabbed inside me.  An hour or two after this starts, I am able to pass lots of stool into the toilet (crummy new loop ileo).

I know the pouch needs to heal but is this much pain normal?  I'm rather angry with my surgeon over the pain medication situation to begin with so if this is normal I'd rather skip the phone call to his office.

I'm also praying this healing is no indication of how my jpouch is going to function after takedown?

Sorry you are having such pain...maybe some other j-pouches can give their opinion but it sounds like you've been behind in pain control for a while. Do you have any pain meds?

I don't have a j-pouch, so I cannot speak for that, and remember everyone is different, but I was on pain meds for about 2 weeks after coming home, when I had my proctocolectomy.
