Does anyone out there have multple colonic polyps and, if so, what can be done about them?  Has anyone ever rid themselves of polyps beside having them removed during a colonoscopy?  Is a colectomy the only way to go?  Everything else, including bowel movements, are pretty normal although the stools are turning into little round hard balls of feces.  Doctor has suggested a total colectomy so was wondering how long it would take to get back to one or two bowel movements a day.  Am extremely helathy and was planning to climb Kilimanjaro next year.  Will I be ready?

I will be anxious to follow replies to your inquiry. I just had an ESU (endoscopic ultrasound) to rule out any lymph and/or vascular involvement of a resected malignant polyp removed in August 2011. The good news - no spread of the cancerous polyp. Bad news - endoscopist found multiple (30 or so) 5 mm polyps that were "seemingly benign". He recommended another colonoscopy to remove all. Depending on the type of polyp I may have to have a colectomy. Has anyone had this experience?
