Hi everyone. I have had step 2 of a 3 step jpouch creTion done nearly 4 weeks ago. The swelling in my back passage has really cleared down in the last week allowing me to easily pass the mucus that we produce. The one thing that is worrying me is as the swelling went away I started passing a little blood when passing the mucus. Has anyone who has had a jpouch creation experience passing small amounts of blood from their back passage before takedown? I have an app with surgeon in 2 weeks but am worrying. Any experience of passing or not passing blood would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks
Elli

Passing mucus and blood is normal. It's an indication that your tissue is healthy. I am always amazed that surgeons, and I mean all surgeons, don't inform their patients of this. It can be quite a shock for those of us who had surgery to alleviate bleeding!

Thanks sue, I knew about passing mucus, it's as the blood has come on as the swelling went down I am a bit worried. I think it's made worse by wanting the pouch to work well, as I said earlier in 2 weeks I have an app and that's when I have the xray dye test and I am just wanting it to go well and don't want things to go wrong now! It's all very stressful!!
