I have been feeling really down on myself lately. Lately I just hate being different. It seems harder now I guess because I am tired of being single and want to go out and date. I just cannot bring myself to do it because I'm scared. Too scared to tell anybody and too scared of the rejection.

I called around and found a support group. They are having a Christmas party the first Sunday of December and I am going. It is a little more than an hours drive but I really need to meet some people I can relate to. You guys understand better than anyone else how hard it is to feel so different. I really want to actually talk in person to someone. Maybe I will even meet someone. wink Wouldn't that be strange?

Anyway, I just wanted to share and vent a little. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! Enjoy the food, family, and friends!

I think that sounds great!!! I hope you have fun and that it will fill the void you are feeling. You aren't different, maybe have something special that nobody else has, but you aren't the same person you've always been. I know it is hard to believe but you will find that special someone and they will love you for you and not care that you have a special part. Take care I care.

Good for you.
I'll be pulling for you to meet someone.

your post actually encouraged me to get my butt in gear (no pun intended) and start that support group i've been meaning to.

Let us know how it goes.

That sounds great!! Good for you for moving forward. There are plenty of people who could careless about if a person has an ostomy. Find one of them!!

Overcoming trails and challenges makes one smarter, tougher, more compassionate, ( I could go on but you know what I mean) and you are in that wonderful category.

Thank you for the support from you guys. And Chasblah, you should definitely start that support group. I will post and let everyone know how it goes. :-)

I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2000.

I was hospitalized about 10 times between 2000 and 2004. I had about 9(or more) blood transfusions total.

Finally, in January of 2004 I was told the damage was too bad and I needed a permanent ileostomy.

I went through a healthy pregnancy in 2006-2007. I had a handsome 8lb 6oz baby boy.
