Hi Everyone,

I had what I assume was or is a partial blockage last night.  I was in severe pain so I took in  a lot of liquids and sure enough it opened up.  I was and am still in a lot of pain.  My stoma hurts and I can feel them moving inside of me until things come out.  Is it normal to be in pain after the blockage passed???? Today, I had nothing to eat because i'm so scared of the pain.  I had 2 cups of coffee and 2 V8 juices.  Should I go into the ER for the pain or is it normal????

Please help me....

I wish I knew what to tell you. I've never had a blockage that bad. I know it does hurt when you try to pass a blockage but mine were just small and passed with in an hour or so. I'm sorry I'm no help. :(
Heather

I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2000.

I was hospitalized about 10 times between 2000 and 2004. I had about 9(or more) blood transfusions total.

Finally, in January of 2004 I was told the damage was too bad and I needed a permanent ileostomy.

I went through a healthy pregnancy in 2006-2007. I had a handsome 8lb 6oz baby boy.

I've never had my stoma hurt during a partial obstruction...my abdomen has, but the actual stoma, no...could there be something else going on? Have you called the doc? Hope you are feeling better now!!

Call your doctor or your stoma nurse.

Or go to your local ER.

I had one "almost partial blockage" and after it passed I had no left over pain, you may have something else going on. Good Luck, Rosemary

Thank u,

no I haven't called or gone in. I'm eating small amounts at a time and things are passing but the pain is still there. The pain is only when things are coming out of the stoma. Very wierd. It's better today so I'm hoping that it'll pass. I'm still eat light and trying to treat myself as they would treat me in the ER. Lots of fluids and light meals. I'm still a little panicky though, I'm not going to lie.

I appreciate your help thank u again so much

If the pain is better maybe that is a sign it will pass on its own. Maybe something you ate that passed during the partial blockage maybe irritated your stoma as it came out. Like if anything sharp and unchewed passed through it. Rosemary
