Are you able to digest them properly? Do you crush them instead?

depends on the pill. Extended release will not digest. If i take a pill that is scored i cut it in half, or i try to take chewable stuff
UC for 8 years, before finally kicking its butt and having a permanent ileostomy April 17 2007!

so far, i've not had to do anything differently. just swallow!

28 yrs. old. married with one beautiful daughter (born 11/20/07)
-diagnosed with severe pancolitis u/c 2002 had total colectomy 12/19/08; emergency surgery due to abscess-had to redo ileostomy and switch to left side 12/25/08; 2/15/09 found blood clot in superior mesenteric vein (prob. from inf. and surgery inflammation)
i only take vitamins now, when I WANT to. :)
(temporary ileostomy....maybe)

Slow release pills dont digest for me either, or any pills with coatings. So when I need any medication we opt for patches where possible and pills that disolve quickly :-)

Extended Release are not recommended. I've even had problems with vitamins coming out whole so I just make sure I take them with food and it's usually okay!

I had all my meds put into liquid or soluble form when i got my ileo Bev x
