I havent been on for quite some time....just really busy. I had a permanent colostomy on June 9th of 2009. a couple weeks ago I had an obstruction that worked its way out. I have been hurting since. I have always had some pain with it but not like now. My stomach is swollen to the point I cant even put jeans on. I feel like it is ready to explode at anytime. It hurts to sit, to stand to bend over, even to push on it. I miss my ileostomy, I never had any trouble with it. Now I have nothing but trouble with this colostomy. I hate it. I feel awful, I hurt I feel sick all the time.

I'm so sorry to hear you are having pain and problems. Can I ask why they swapped you from an ileostomy to a colostomy when you were doing good with the ileostomy? If your pain persists I would be going to the ER and get that sorted, you shouldn't be suffering like that. Keep us posted and take care of yourself, hope you feel better real soon

I had a loop ileostomy, and the stool was still passing through but because I dont have any feeling down there it would just sit at the bottom of my rectum causing abcesses. I couldnt even push it out. I have very little feeling there. So he cut out my sigmoid and made a permanent colostomy.  I still have a stubble for my rectum and so far that hasnt bothered me at all. I normally have to take a lot of miralax just to stop from having blockages because of my slow motility. Now, it just seems as though my stomach is sooo tight that it will explade any minute. I wish he had made a permanent ileo instead but he said that maybe someday they will come out with something that will fix me so he didnt want to go that route. He tells me now its just bloating, hasnt even order a CT scan. Im thinking of going for a second opinion.

I agree with getting another opinion.  I also am concerned that he's against the permanent ileo...finding another doctor may be just what you need.  I would go as far as finding what hospital a different doctor (one you've researched and found) would be on call for, and go to that hospital's ER, that way you're seen by this doctor immediately.  If that's possible.
I hope you're able to find some sort of soothing techniques!!!!

That does sound miserable. I would get the second opinion too.

I'm no expert on obstructions, (I've only had one) but I hurt for 2-3 weeks after that. Everything was tender and I was nervous all the time about what to eat and not eat. No t fun.

Hope you get things figured out soon and keep us posted.
