My mom has a colostomy which is working well - it has been one year since her surgery.  Around the ostomy has begun to stick out and it obvious on the one side.  I looks like there is a glob under her skirt.  The ostomy nurse suggested a hernia/ostomy support belt.  She already wears a small one inch belt to support the bag itself.  The nurse suggested a Nu-Hope belt.  The belt comes in various sizes based on the size of the person and the size of the hole opening.
Does anyone wear a suppport belt?  How does it work for you and how do you put it on?  Where is your bag in relationship to the belt?  Does it fit and does it help you in support and appearence?  Is it comfortable or noticable?

there are several in the ostomy support group I belong to, that wear the Nu-hope belt. the "opening" is placed based on where your ostomy is. I've heard lots of good things about them.

I have a hernia and wear a NuHope belt. Boy does it ever help that 'bulge. I am small, so mine is three inches wide but they come in many different sizes. My ET nurse help me figure out which one to get. I LOVE it! Plus it just makes me feel secure.
