I'm hoping that some of you have had experience with Cedar Sinai so that it will either put my mind at ease or so that I start looking for other options.  Last Friday the gastroenterologist said he was referring me there for further testing and possible surgery.  I assumed that his office would call to let me know when the appointment would be because when my husband was referred to Loma Linda, the local doctor made arrangements for us.  So I called today and was told that it takes from two weeks to a month for Cedar Sinai to review a patient's case then call to make the appointment.   Does this sound right to you?

Thanks!

Hi Val,

I had my surgery at cedars in Beverly HIlls and had a fantastic experience.  My surgeon's name is Dr. Eiman Firoozmand and he was amazing.  The hospital is great.  The nurses and wonderful and the doctors and amazing.   I would be patient.  They definately are worth it.  I hope it's a good experience for you too.

I had my surgery at Cedars Sinai in October 2008, and my referral process went much faster. I had already consulted with Dr. Targan at their Irritable Bowel Disease Center, and I think that helped, but I was the one who called the surgeon directly, and I had an appointment within a week, and all the required testing was done in the next couple of weeks, with my surgery taking place within two weeks of my initial visit. Granted, I was an emergency case.

My colorectal surgeon was Dr. Phillip Fleshner, his contact info is available from the Cedars website. You can call his office directly and make an appointment for a surgical consultation. From there his office can help you set up all the required testing if indicated. Dr. Fleshner has an excellent reputation, and I was very pleased with my care.

Val,  yes that is true and it would be great if you can wait because they are a good hospital.  So just keep hanging in there.

I have had a few problems with gas this week...It gets stuck and untill the gass passes I cant poop....my bowel movements are like 2-3 a day now...anint it great?

But of course I ate 2 pieces of pizza and forgot to take my lactose pill so its giving me heck...so wont do that again...  Its a learning process of trial and error of what to eat...still salad is a rough one so have backed off of that.  I ate a slice of orange yesterday and that might have added to my problem too.

But not complaining, cuz other than that, and a constant sinus headache I am great...so best wishes for all to have a good day of health..

Thank you for your replies and encouragement.  Friday I was contacted and my consultation has been set for May 20th.  The doctor I will see is the head of the motility department - Dr. Edy Soffer.
