If I get my sub-total colectomy I know I'll be out of work for awhile resting on the couch. What activities did you all do? I know I can watch television, read, etc. I really like to do creative stuff - sewing, knitting, ceramics (I know that one is out for awhile!), and whatnot.

Any input? Thanks :-)

We are all different but I really had a hard time focusing on any hand work or book reading while on pain meds:(

I found myself sleeping and watching tv...you might be able to knit simple projects?

I was on pain med longer than I thought I would be...being a surgery veteran:( I thought I would bounce back...but my age and illness took its toll on me! It was three weeks of max dose but it was VERY EASY to taper off during the fourth week:)

Download a bunch of extra apps for your iphone! That way you'll always have something to keep you occupied:) Now, if I was hospitalized or recovering I'd farm on Farmville:):):)!!!

I'll have to have my phone on the charger in between naps :)

Not a Farmville fan, but I did play Farm Town until I realized what a waste of my time was going towards!

I had my surgery a month before Christmas so I spent my downtime making home made cards for everyone. People thought I was so creative when in reality it was the pain meds!! HAHAHAHA.
