Hello everyone, its been quite a while since I visited this site. I had a total procto-colectomy back in November 2008. Ever since my life has been great. The recovery was pretty long considering I had so much removed, including my entire colon, rectum and anus, but I am good now and aside from the ostomy and some scarring related to fistulas I had before the surgery, I feel like I don't even have Crohn's disease anymore.
In addition, I have met the love of my life. She has also had several surgeries, including a temporary ostomy when she was a teenager (from Colitis, not Crohn's). She no longer has an ostomy, but having gone through so much of the same kind of thing really helped strengthen our bond.
I just wanted to say hello again to everyone and thank you all for all the help and support you offered, and all the questions you answered over the years. Without you guys, it would have been much more difficult to cope.
I also wanted to share my story so that anyone facing the difficult choice of surgery would know that there can be good results, and my case is a perfect example.

doesn't that just sound cool when you sing it?
