I touched on my hemorrhoid in the total colectomy thread.  They numbed me up and removed it there in the doctor's office.  She cut away the skin about the size of a thumb nail.

I know I'll bleed and it'll take at least a week to get better.  How long will it take until the bleeding stops?  I change out the gauze each time I use the restroom.  If I don't use it the pain is a lot worse and it keeps bleeding.  I'm not worried about bleeding too much, just curious when it will stop.

For those of you that haven't had any removed - it is definitely tolerable once you get past the needle being injected into you for the numbing.  I'm on Lortabs and Advil.  They keep the pain at bay and the only 2 things that cause worse pain are bowel movements and sitting down intially.

Oh, lord, a b.m. would really hurt. Good luck with your recovery. I would think the bleeding would ease up in a week? Just a guess. Rosemary

Thanks. I finally gave up on the gauze tonight. Trying to figure out how to have a BM without enemas (stung really bad!)
