I am prolly not going to be near my computer for the next day or so, but I wanted to wish you all the best in the world and at the same time congratulate you on you beginning your new life. Try to stay calm (I know it is hard) and be confident. You are going to do just fine. You will be in my prayers and I can't wait to talk to you when this is all over with. Take care, sweetheart!!!

Thanks Anthony.  I was unable to get on this site till the afternoon....my computer said the website was down.  Just say some Our Fathers and Hail Marys...they work.
I am sticking to a clear liquid diet today and tomorrow.  The surgeon said I could eat normally today, but I still don't like the idea of not being totally cleaned out.  For good measure I think I'll just stay on the clear stuff for both days...geez, I hope he knows what he is talking about.  Hate for him to knick something and poop come flying out of the colon into my blood stream...ugh.  My husband said maybe they clamp sections of the colon out and then remove them.  Oh...no one mentioned an epidural.  Guess I will have to ask the anesthesiologist on Monday.

Ulcerative Proctitis since Sept of 1998. Hospitalized for eight days.  Prednisone, Asacol, Rowasa enemas.  Two year remission. Flare..switched from Asacol to Colazal.  Two year remission.  Started 6MP in 2002.  Flared yearly from 2003 to May of 08.  Hospitalized for ten days in May of 08.  Flaring more often since.  Off 6MP. Remicade failed.  Humira failed.   Meds: 20 mgm prednisone, Colazal, Benicar, zolpidem for sleep, Calcium with D, Multivitamin.  Surgery scheduled for June 28th.

Christine, 2 more days, huh? Are you still very nervous? I am still in the hospital, but doing okay. Good luck with your surgery on Monday. I will be thinking and praying for you. I have been hoping to post a rundown of my surgery, but I can't read for long because I am still a bit queasy. Good luck, Tracy

Thanks to all of you. Tracy...keep your chin up. Sounds like you had it pretty rough. I keep having second thoughts...because I feel ok. Well, my rectum is still giving me a bit of an issue, so I know there is still some inflammation there. Will that discomfort go away after they remove the rectum or will I still have pain there?

I'm sure you'll have some pain while healing, but then that pressure/pain will be gone!
