I bought some meat tenderizer but am having second thoughts about it. Anybody have any experience with it? I don't want to "tenderize"  the wrong "meat". Any opinions?

You sprinkle meat tenderizer on steaks, like salt, before you cook them. The enzymes in the tenderizer makes the meat tender. Actually, it starts the digestion process to make the meat tender. I don't think it would have any effect on a stoma or the surrounding skin, but you never know.

I think it would be fine, because my understanding of digestion is that everything gets pulverized by stomach acid before it reaches your small intestine, and then it's got a long way to go before reaching your stoma. By that time, the food (and meat tenderizer) would be absorbed into your system. I'm not a doctor (but I play one on TV), so I may be wrong. wink

If you decide to give it a try, let us know how it goes!

well i knew what meat tenderizer was, i just wasnt sure where you were talking about putting it!
I thought maybe you meant some other meat, lol.
But no i dont think it will hurt your stoma coming out, cause it will be gone by then, cause like if you eat something acidic it doesnt burn your skin coming out

Dan,  I don't know anything about your situation but I cannot handle any tenderizer for meats especially if oil is involved.  I stay away from almost everything, fats, oils, veggies, fruit, except canned peaches.  But I had a Total Colectomy, and trying new things is always rough for me.  Hope your doing well.
