I just brought my husband home from the Cleveland Clinic.  He had rectum removal and anus closing.  He has a thrombosed hemorrhoid.  The doctor said the swelling should go away and it shouldn't pose a problem.  We were wondering if others had this condition after rectum removal surgery and if there was anything that you did to help the swelling.  My husband is also having pain in the lapro sites.  His surgery was Monday so I'm assuming that this is normal.  How long will it take for him to be relatively without pain at these sites?   They put him on Vicodin.  His rectum seems to be doing well and he is able to sit for a relatively long time.  It's nice to have him home to recover.  Being in a hospital bed next to another colorectal patient that needed a LOT of care didn't help my husband sleep.  Other than that, we had a great experience at the Cleveland Clinic and appreciated Dr. Stocchi and his staff for all of their help.
