Hi all,
I've been wondering this for a while...I know the loop ileostomy is temporary, but I don't understand how they do it. Could anyone explain please?

think about taking a garden hose and bending it in 1/2. That is your loop. Now, cut a little part of that top part off and that is what is coming out of your body to release the waste.

Yup, it like a garden hose that is not cut all the way through and the two sides are held together so you see a hole on top and on bottom.

Loop Ileos are not always temporary...I have a Loop End Ileo that is permanent!

I also had a question about this. When they make the temp ileo, how far away from the jpouch is it?
Er, or how many feet of intestine is there between the jpouch and the loop ileo?

do you mean, how much of you intestine do they use for the j-pouch........

because
the pouch and ileo are not connected. so, there is 0 feet of intestine between them
when they connect them, they remove the ileostomy.
