Are you still having vaginal discharge? I am, however, I am not sure whether this is from a yeast infection or not. I would like to go to my gyn doctor but do not want a PAP smear done just yet because my surgeon said it is too soon after surgery.
My rear hurts too. I wish this would have come about before my post op visit last Wed but I thought it was just a hemorrhoid....now I am not so sure. Could it be that I am healing up there and things need time to settle down? I told you that my surgeon left my anus intact also right? UGH, this is such a pain!!!

Bumping this up so LilSis doesn't miss it. Still having the discharge (pinkish like that in the JP tube) coming out of my vagina. Rear hurts a bit, but getting better. Could this be from the operation, maybe I am healing up there?

Hi christine...yes Im stilll having discharge. I dont know why  but ive had the pap and the cup peeing and nothing showed up. The doctors seem to think my body is just trying to settle itself. I have had my period 5 times since my surgery?  Im on iron suplements to make up for all the blood loss.
I am seeing the surgeon tommorow to talk about the mucus and blood still coming out of my butt. Im pretty sure mine is hemmroids. However...he makes the big bucks to tell me if im right or wrong..lol    Wish me luck for answers>> I'll do my best to remember your question about why I wansnt sewn completely shut..  I always seem to panic in the doctors office..they always seem in such a hurry?? Talk again soon..Celine

Hi Celine....good luck tomorrow at your office visit. Other than the issues I related to you, I feel pretty good. Good appetite, stronger but am careful NOT to overdue it because excessive walking a few weeks ago brought about more discharge from the vagina.
I am glad to hear you got a clean bill of health from the gyn doctor. How soon after surgery did you get your pap smear? Hmmm...wonder why my surgeon said not to go this soon after surgery. He is a very compassionate man and does not take chances. I think I mentioned that he refused to do a j-pouch on me because of my age. I also had to have a nuclear stress test done on my heart before he would operate and I have no history of heart disease. One night in the hospital I had an episode where my blood pressure dropped to 70/40, heart rate zoomed to 152 and I had a temp of 105! This was at 10 pm while the tech was doing her routine rounds. She raced out of my room and all these nurses came running in along with the resident on duty. All I wanted to do was go back to sleep..lol. I didn't feel ill at all! I never saw a staff work so fast. The lab person came it and took about six vials of blood out of me and also blood cultures. The xray tech came in to take a chest xray. They phoned the doctor and he ordered a CTscan. I couldn't drink all that gunk and fell asleep with the glass in my hand. Everything came out normal! Till this day, they have no idea what happened that night because the next morning I was fine. Weird!
Yeah. I am anxious to know why my anus was left intact but I am sure he had his reasons. He trained at the Cleveland Clinic and has been head of colorectal surgery at the Univ. of Pa Hosp for years.

I give up!! I drove 2 hours to the city to see my surgeon ....just to find out he was called for emergency surgery. If I wanted to wait...there were 5-6 ppl ahead of me BUT it was already 1:45 and rush hour would have been a 3 hour drive home! Forget it...I was too hot and tired from already sitting in bumper to bumper city traffic to do it all over again...lol Sorry Christine but I decided to leave.
I am going to my familly physician to get a referral to another surgeon closer to home. Wish I had some answers for you christine but it just wasnt meant to be... sigh Good luck and all the est Celine

Bummer Celine. My surgeon had an emergency on the day I had my post op visit too, but he was only half an hour late. There is a big sign in his office which states: If the patient is more than 15 minutes late, they will cancel the office visit and still bill the insurance company". Well, what if the surgeon is late??? LOL! He was extremely apologetic though.
I am going to make an appointment with my gyn doctor. I believe I have either vaginitis or a yeast infection. This stuff coming out of my vagina is just not normal. I have no itching but it burns a bit when I urinate. My surgeon's assistant phoned in a script to my pharmacy about four weeks back for Diflucan but it was only one pill. I had no discharge for a few weeks following but now it is back....so I can just bet it is yeast. I was on prednisone for a LONG time, now off. I also had a high blood sugar while on prednisone. It returned to normal now. I read where Diabetes can cause a yeast infection too..ugh.

difulcan is only one pill, thats what it's supposed to be.

yeast infections and UTIs are very common after being cathed
