Ok so I can go have my second surgery, BUT I need to pay off my balance with the surgeon first. Balance is like 2500ish (I had a stupidly high deductible on my health insurance which I've hit now).
Anyway I have to pay it off. I thought about an unsecured loan, but my bank said that I would need a job first. Ok well, I'm about to get a job back with my old company that I used to temp for. Thing is, I dunno if I will be able to take time off if I get hired to have the surgery.
I could get a secured loan against my car, but I'm worried that if I don't get the job (I always think of the what ifs) that I would accidentally default on it and then get my car taken away.

do you have credit cards?
If you do, call the surgeon, and tell them you will pay the whoel thing if they will give you a discount.

Can you borrow it from a family member? That way you can get it done before the end of the year while you've met your deductible!

Ohio took my suggestion. This totally depends on your parents financial situation.

The same thing happened with me. I had an outstanding balance and even asked the surgeon about it. He said don't worry about it. They just added it to the next statement which I am getting now. I would talk with him, the billing department or whomever and see if there is a way you can possibly still do this. I know you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Let us know how everything turns out. I just looked over all my claims for the year and can gladly thank this disease for coming out well over $120K. I mean, I wasn't stuck with that, but it is still amazing at the costs. Good luck, brother!

I agree that you should speak with their billing department. I paid off a $2,000 hospital bill in 12 months by paying around $175 per month. They seemed very willing to work with me. I hope you get the same response. Good luck!

they are usually pretty willing to work with you, esp to get a lump sum payment
My hospital bill was like 4000 and they said if youpay it now, its 2500.
