Hello my dear dear friends! It has been a few months since I've logged on this site. I felt like I was getting depressed reading different entries and needed a little break.  I am happy to say that I am now 6 months post reversal and am feeling decent.  I had a couple hospitalizations for uncontrollable bleeding and an obstrcution but have been ok since.  It has been one busy summer and I am looking forward to feeling even better this fall (fingers crossed!).  I am writing today to get some advice on what antibiotic to take.  My husband had strep throat last week, my daughter got it a few days ago and now I have it:(  I have never done well with antibiotics and was afraid to take them during my colitis days.  Now that I am colon free, should I be worried? I feel like the Amoxicillin I took a year and a half ago sent me into my worst flare to date which ended up having me take my colon out 7 months after that!  Although it was probably time to take it out anyway, I recall that I flared bad after the Amoxicillin.  So, now I have strep throat and don't want to leave it untreated.  My daughter's pediatrician swabbed my throat and it was negative but I portray all of the symptoms, it is in our household and the back of my throat is red and irritated.  He prescribed Penicillin VK (yesterday) but I have yet to start it.  I bought Culturelle probiotics as well so that my GI tract doesn't get too overloaded.  So I guess my question is, what do you guys normally take for strep and does it do anything to your stomach now that you are without a colon?  I also have a call in to my GI dr but we know how that is to get a response!  Thanks for your time:)

Nutz, I am not sure what the answer is, but I think you need to take probiotics with the antibiotics because of c-diff....anyway, your thread needed to get bumped up so more people can see it....
