I am normally in the Prostate Cancer forum.  I am scheduled on September 23rd to have the Ileal Conduit Surgery, by passing my bladder and bladder neck, which were heavily damaged during Salvage Radiation late last year.  I am currently on my 21st catheter, and have been on one continous since Oct 1 of last year.  We waited all these months to see if any natural healing would occur, but its not going to happen.  The pain of having constant bladder spasms, and all the irratation from the radiation damage is more than I can handle at this point.

Trying to find out from anyone here, what the operation is really like, the hospital time is expected to be in the 4-7 day range, and my uro/surgeon said to expect 6-8 weeks normal recovery.  This will be my 8th operation since November of 2008, my body is very tired of all this.

My wife is a nurse, and are both a bit uncertain about the perm. aspect of this operation, and what life will be like for me with a bag and stoma.

Any advice is appreciated in advance.  Are there any Uro patients in this group?  Thanks
