I just couldn't stand the pressure and pain anymore.  The surgeon said the CT scan didn't show any build up of fluid but when he looked up my anus with a scope he saw a bunch of pus and blood and suctioned it all out... smhair ...needless to sure didn't tickle. There is an infection. He has me on Cipro for two weeks and then I have to go back to him, unless I start to feel worse skull .  UGH..sometimes I wonder why I went through with this operation.

You had the surgery because prednisone was killing you. You have to remind yourself of that. Recovery from surgery is tough and can take up to a year to feel 100%. You have had a setback but things will improve. Be patient and remember you are way better off today then you where a couple months ago.

Hi Christine,

I have been following your story as you are my NJ neighbor! :) I think this is actually good news, no? It's determined not to be a fistula or fluid but rather an infection which can easily be treated with antibiotics. Now just image if you still had UC and were taking antibiotics...with me still having UC, that thought alone scares me!! Stay strong as you regrets!

I agree, though infection not a good thing, it can be CURED!! Infection gets cleared, pain leaves. This is what I hope for you. Rosemary

Christine...this is really good news!! Even though it seem crappy at the moment the infection can be dealt with. I am sure you will start to feel better in a couple of days. And I agree with Sue......remember what prednisone was doing to you and why you had this surgery
