do most people with jpouches and ostomies take these vitamins? I have a heard a lot of good things about them and I actually bought the ones that are loaded with iron. Do they absorb better? They taste awesome too. I almost ate the whole jar of vitamins.

I take regular vitamins and I don't have any problem with it absorbing. I never see any of the pill after going to the bathroom.

I was taking regular ones for a while and didn't ever see them come out of my pouch until about a month ago. Then I started taking Flintstones. I don't think they taste great, but they're not horrible. And they do the job. I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I think chewable is the best call.

Basically, the large intestine is responsible for absorbing salts and water. It's the small intestine that absorbs the nutrition and vitamins we need.
Ileostomy for 34 years due to UC. I had my surgery at 10 years of age.

I take the Flintstone's vitamins too.  For awhile I wasn't taking any vitamins because my surgeon said if you eat a well balanced diet you don't need vitamins, but who eats a well balanced diet..hehehehe.  I'm not crazy over the taste.  I also take chewable calcium tablets.  There was something on the news last month about calcium causing heart problems but I have osteoporosis and don't take any medication other than the calcium...so, I just have to take my chances :-) .
