Hello,

What is the best time of the day to change the bag?  I have tried first thing in the morning and mid afternoon and both resulted in lots of poo.  Please help..

You have to keep track of your own system...for example: I cannot empty first thing when I wake up, but I can eat breakfast with coffee, feed and walk my dog and take my shower...then change my appliance! It is about an hour after I wake up.

We are all different so maybe if you just note 'quiet' times for a few days you'll know what would be best for you...good luck!

i just do mine whenever, it doesnt seem to make a difference one way or the other.
Here is something to help, make sure you keep the stoma covered pretty much the whole time,i pull the bag off about half way, then i press really hard right above my stoma, and that makes any poop thats waiting come on out and it goes into the bag.

I try to change in the morning..about an hour after I get up and before breakfast has a chance to move through. I wait until the last of the nights process is done, take off everything ,shower, shave and reapply. Most of the time it is dormant but every once in a while I need fresh towels! cool

Thanks.  My wife changes mine and the last two times have taken forever because I won't stop pooing.  We're going through a lot of towels right now and just wanted feel everyone out.  I have a 2 year old so we have to change before she gets up...

Don't you use paper towels? I tear full size Bounty into 4 pieces (select a size into two). You can change to a clean piece as often as necessary without adding to your laundry.

I do that too, Dan!

I used a waschloth once but I found it awful, putting a poop-filled washcloth in the laundry.

I sit on the side of the tub, just in case Sparky wakes up and starts doing his thing. I use paper towels, too. I have had only one leak that was bad enough to make it to the tub. I cleaned the tub with Clorox after I finished.

Mid-afternoon seems to work best for me. I may have to change that when I find employment again.

i buy super cheap towels and cut them into squares then throw them away when im done, ends up costing probably the same as a roll of paper towels

And Sam: you need to start doing this yourself.

Cleo,

I have a temporary ileo and hope to only have this for a few more weeks before takedown.  I tried and failed and it was easier for my wife to do it with a better angle.  Under different circumstances, I would..

Sam,
I use toilet paper to clean the poo off because I can flush them and can't flush the paper towels. I do flush often if "Privey" gets to working really hard when I have to change. It varies for me on the changing because I used to have frequent leaks and had to change when SHE said it was time.....
