I have a yeast infection and UTI.... cry .  To add insult to injury she thinks I have another abscess in the anus...UGH!   Had to have liver tests before she would give me a script for Diflucan.  So for now I am back on Bactrim and those lozenges for thrush.  This is soooo much fun.....maybe I should have just stuck it out with the ulcerative proctitis shakehead

I am sorry you are going through this.  I just feel in time you will get everything under control.  You can't go back so concentrate on the future!  I am that way about knee replacement - so afraid I will make the wrong decision but we make them and we have to "live" with them!  Hope all gets better soon!

Christine, I am also having a rough time. I just took another round of diflucan due to a vaginal yeast infection and yeast around my stoma. I also have a swelling above my stoma that I assume is a parastomal hernia. I go back to see my surgeon Oct 13th for him to take a peek. I am very depressed about this. My rectum still does not work and I think having a take down is out of the question. I fear this hernia may only get bigger and bigger. GRRRR, makes me very angry that my newfound health is being threatened.

What makes your doctor think you have another abcess? OUCH!

What are the signs of an abcess and how do they treat it? I'm scared I might have one.

Tracy....I am sooo sorry you are going through all this.  It sure is disheatening, isn't it?  After all, the surgery is bad enough to have to go through.  You have to wait till the 13th????  My family doctor thinks it is another abscess because of how I feel.  I have discomfort in the anus again.  Sometimes fluid comes out my vagina and then I feel a bit of relief but after about a half hour I start to feel the discomfort again.  She also said she thinks all my problems with the UTI is from the abscess.  Good thing she put me back on Bactrim because I lost a dear friend to Sepsis about five years ago.  She had a kidney infection and didn't know it.
Stephanie....where do you think your abscess is located?  Mine is in the anus and I feel pressure and discomfort when sitting.  My surgeon didn't sew the anus shut because he said there are too many complications in patients who had it sewn.  Well, maybe he is correct in the fact that if I had this abscess inside the anus and it was sewn shut, they would have to cut through the stitches to drain it....you think that is right?  When he drained it he mentioned that he was concerned that they would have to place a drainage tube in me and in doing that there was a possibility of cutting into the small intestine...ugh.

I get yeast infections about 2 - 3 times a year under my bag where I sweat. One Diflucan-One tablet and it disappears within a couple of days.
Ileostomy for 34 years due to UC. I had my surgery at 10 years of age.
