I hear a lot of folks talking about how expensive ostomy supplies are, but can anyone put a number to that? I know it depends on what you use, but I am just trying to get a rough estimate. I will have to pay 20% with my insurance and am trying to figure how much I will have to budget for this.

I also pay 20% for supplies and it is about $60 a month. Although my supplier is very lenient with payments.
I get 4 boxes of wafers, 2 boxes of bags, a full box of eakin seals, and a thing of sure seals every month.

I only use about 4-5 wafers a month and about 6 bags a month. So I have about 2 full boxes of supplies stacked in my room and a whole drawer full wafer boxes and bag boxes. I have 4 boxes of eakin seals (20 per box) and I've only used 3 seals so far.

Before I found out that my insurance would cover it, I was buying my supplies of ebay which ran me about $60-75 a month.

Wow I can't believe what you guys pay over there for your supplies! Theres no way I could afford that if I lived in the USA. In Australia I pay a yearly membership fee of 35dollars to the stoma association and they send me all the supplies I need each month, however there are limits on how much you can get but they are very generous, I usually get 2 packs of pouches with 30 in each box then 25 wafers as I use colorplast 2 piece click system I also order deordorizer for the pouch as well as adhesive removers, skin lotion wipes and whatever else I need. Its amazing what they do for us ostomates over here. Oh we do pay monthly postage to get our order which is only 8 dollars.

i have been ordering mine from and a thing of bags was like 40 and a thing of wafers was like 50 i think, the bags would last two months and the wafers a month. i was buying them from there because of our horrible insurance craziness, but when it was actually paying it was a good deal less.
