I was just wondering what product everyone used. hollister, coloplast, one piece or two piece? Give product numbers and you track record of it. What worked and what did not work. What is the past or barrier you use?

I use
Hollister New image wafer product #14603
Hollister bag product #18123
Adapt paste product #79300
Coloplast protective skin barrier product #2041
Coloplast Ostomy powder product#1907

I'm a Hollister fan. I actually haven't tried anything else, but this works for me and I am sticking with it.
I get the Hollister 1 piece 8593 (has a convex wafer)
Adapt ring
Stoma powder
Sometimes I have to use Kenalog spray if I get irritation from the tape.

If you ever get leaks from the paste, try the adapt ring. I have never gotten a leak with it and it's easy to remove.

We are all so different...you will find that individual person's experience with a brand will usually be universal to that brand. How someone's body reacts to the chemicals in that brand is usually the cause sad some of us need convexity or have allergic reactions to the adhesives.

I have tried all of the major brands and some of the lessor know and have my favorites but use the brand that works with my body. Personally, I use an Eakin Seal (and have for 10 years) with the Coloplast Extended Wear Wafer and a Velcro drainable pouch with filter (2 piece). I also use a Sure Seal over my wafer to protect my wafer from moisture.

I don't use adhesive remover or skin prep...I find that their residues can shorten wear time but will use Stomahesive Powder when needed. My wear time is anything from 3 days to 7 days and usually depends on the time of year and my activity level during that time!

I personally prefer a two piece system because a pouch NEVER lasts as long as the wafer skull and I change my pouch regularly.

I use Convatec one piece clear 400598 and Hollister convex seal 79520. I do not use adhesive removers or powders. I usually put Friars around my stoma for extra protection. My stoma is retracted and I need all the protection I can get.

Kenalog is a spray that you use when you have a lot of irritation there. You have to get it with a prescription though and it's very expensive. With my insurance I had to pay $70 for a small aresol can.

And what do you guys mean the bag doesn't last? What happens to it? I always rinse mine out so it looks the just slightly discolored by change day.

I currently use:

Coloplast SenSura Convex Light Barrier with precut 1" opening 11313
Coloplast SenSura EasiClose Wide Outlet Drainable Pouch 11515
Coloplast Ostomy Belt 0421
Smith & Nephew Tincture of Benzoin 407000 (it's like Friars Balsam)
ReliaMed Ostomy Odor Eliminator Drops 8OZED
Convatec Stomahesive Paste 183910

I used the Marlen 1-piece Ultramax Drainable Pouch 1" precut 53525 for a while and liked it. But they started leaking. I may give them another try in the future - I really liked how soft and flexible they were - and they absolutely did not itch. It never leaked around the stoma, and my skin did really well with it. But the bag closure leaked.

The Coloplast stuff is nice, too. I especially like the wide outlet that is really easy to clean. I have never had Coloplast product leak. I have had samples of just about everything that they make.

@Brian84~for me, it's just personal preference...I don't like when the plastic around the tail loosens and Coloplast has that stupid 'reinforcement' piece that always separates...there is no right or wrong to this!

@NASCARon~yes...and I will use it if my skin is horrible but I find that not using it allows me a few extra days of wear time:) I've had to start using Coloplast and with their extended wear wafer it doesn't help with that wafer:(

I finally found a system i like and get one week wear time (for now, might change once i have more energy and start doing more heavy workouts)

Coloplast Sensura 2 piece flex wafer and bag (I LOVE the closure on these bags)
a whole small eakin ring stretched around my stoma to create soft and light convexity. and also to prevent leaks as the location of my stoma is near a divot in my belly.
Smith & nephew adhesive remover

I cannot use skin preps as they cause my skin to sting and itch horribly. i use friar's balsam if I have any irritations, and i have Hollister's lubricating deodorant but i hardly ever use it. also have a belt, but can't stand it, don't need it and it fit in an odd spot and it wanted to slide upward towards the natural skinniest part of me therefore not helping anything.

i'm also waiting to get my sureseal samples so i can see if i want to use those regularly too.

Ron~you got it...I used to use it every time (and I will still use it when my skin has horrible issues) but it does reduce my wear time sad
