Hi everyone, the day after New Years I'm scheduled to take the fist of 5 capsules for my sitzmark study. I have been instructed to take one capsule each day, for 5 days, and to go in on day 6 for an xray, followed by an anorectal manometry and breath test.

I was wondering if anyone has had a test with 5 capsules? I'm wondering how they would interpret the results for something like that? If someone could shed some light on it that would be great.

I was also wondering, since I will not be able to take anything to help myself go to the bathroom for the entire sitzmark test, before they do the manometry, do they do anything to clean you out first, like an enema or something? I am worried that if I am as backed up as I think I will be, it might affect the results of the manometry.

Any info would help a lot.

I only took the one pill so I can't be of help there.

As far as doing an enema or other treatments prior - no. I didn't have any bowel movements during mine so I was so miserable at day 5 and spent the rest of the day in the bathroom dealing with it. Sorry for the bad news there :(

i know only one woman who had the zits test with 5 capsules, "Janiepain". she used to post a lot more, but rarely posts now. i hope she decides to pop up here soon. but anyway, it doesn't matter, each dr has his own way of doing this test. most drs do it with 1 capsule, some with 3, but i rarely hear of 5.. i'm not sure how they do their calculation and all, but i figure at least they know, lol.

as for the manometry, usually it's not a good idea to do it right after a zits test, cuz like you said, you'd probably be so impacted and it's impossible to do the test this way. when i had my manametry (twice) - at both times i was asked to do an enema first, and since no enemas are allowed with the zits test, then it's totally not a good idea to have it right after the zits. try to pospone it till after you manage to clean out a bit from the zits test and able to do an enema.

good luck and keep us posted.

Hi Hodaya!!

Just checked in to say hello and saw this post. Hope you're doing well! I've been busy and haven't been here in awhile, but try to check in long enough every couple days to see how everyone is doing:)

Alibee,
I posted in your other thread, but just wanted to add that before taking the sitz marker test I always took a large amount of laxatives to clean me out first. I also didn't eat as much as I normally would while on the test....6 days is a long time to go without a bm.

good luck:)
