Before my husband went in for surgery I was told about a company that makes underwear.  A little pricey but found them new in the package on ebay from a seller and ordered 3 pair which were waiting for us when we got back from the hospital stay.

He does like them.  The only problem is the inner piece of material I need to tack down and make it more of a custom fit for the bag  instead of the one piece of material that is there now.  I suppose it has to be made this way not knowing which side the man's stoma is located if it is an ileostomy or colostomy.

He always wore briefs but this boxer style seems to be more conducive now. So I bought a 6 pack of Haynes boxer briefs a few days ago.  I'm going to try to sew in an insert that will keep the pouch in between the 2 layers of material.  I say this as I am thinking it is better to have the bag NOT pressed against the skin especially when it is really hot outside. We live in Florida so it is hotter longer and I am wondering if I am thinking this correctly.

Just wondering what the other guys do out there.

well the bags are covered in cloth, so it shouldnt matter anyway.

My stoma is kind of high up - belly button level - and on my right. I tend to wear the bag outside of my underwear. I usually wear briefs. The underwear waistband kind of squeezes the bag in half and the top tends to balloon if I put it inside the underwear.

I am considering wearing the bag sideways and trying the phoenix belt. This would keep everything above the waistline for me. I am just not sure how hard it will be to empty this way.

I have had Sparky (my Stoma) since July, so I am still trying different things out.

I wear tighty-whities, pouch on the outside (of my tighties, not my pants). Stoma is above my beltline so my belt stops sewage from going to the bottom. It's just a matter of occasionally taking the pressure off to let it fall. Not a big deal and no problem in hot weather.
