So as most of you know I received a temporary ileostomy in September 2010 due to complications with Crohn's Disease. Long story short I went into the ER for some fairly routine abdominal pain. I was admitted and scheduled for a routine colonoscopy the next morning. During the procedure my colon ruptured. This was not planned in any way but everything seemed to go fairly well. My depression afterward was drastic but I had a huge relief in pain....

until today...

I'm having what feels like a Crohn's flare up on both sides of my stomach. I feel nauseous and I haven't had a lot of output today. I'm in a ton of pain and I'm not sure what to do.

I don't have insurance so it's deal with it or go to the ER. I just started a new job so I can't really miss work. I don't have any pain medication and I can't take ibuprofen. I have no idea what could be wrong and I'm just looking for ideas of what could be going on.

Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have an obstruction of sorts...grape juice is a favorite for many but I prefer ginger ale or a strong coffee to move things through. If the pain gets worse go to the hospital.

Don't mess around with an sbo (even partial)...if you have pain/vomiting get yourself to the hospital. Not having insurance is an issue and I understand about the new job but YOUR health is too important PLEASE take care of yourself!!

Keep us posted on how things are! yeah

Thank you. I'm feeling better this morning. Not 100% but probably about 85%. But then again my pain has always been worse at night. I'm having,my coffee this morning too. I had a lot of output last night. I promise to go in if things get worse..... I was afraid it might be serious. I will keep an eye on things.

Glad your feeling better and perhaps whatever was possibly obstructing may be slowly making its way out. Make sure you chew your food really well and that will help with things getting stuck, no matter what if you are in that kind of pain again get off to the ER, your health is way too important. I too have crohns/colitis and have been pretty good since I had my ileostomy done in march 09, wow I can't believe how fast that time has gone. Also when I have any pain from partial obstructions I drink lots of hot cups of tea and apply heat packs to my tummy and massage my tummy as well and it really helps move things, I ate a mango a while back and that got stuck so I feel your pain. Take care and keep us posted on your progress
