I have a pretty good handle on what foods to eat or not.  I eat mostly foods that are soluble.  I have an ileostomy and usually can plan my output...like knowing when to drink wine, eat cheese and so on.  But what is it with cake?  Cake or cake-like foods give me diarrhea.  I don't have all the variations listed yet.  I'm still learning.  Cake, danish pastry, yellow rolls and who know whatelse?  Anyone had the cake experience?  Bread and other baked products don't seem to be a problem.

Anything with real sugar (cane or corn) will make things looser. But really watch for foods/beverages with fake sugars like sorbitol, manitol, or xylitol. Those give me faucet-like diarrhea. I have found that I even cannot tolerate OTC cough syrups or Mucinex and NyQuil. The manufacturers put fake sugar in those products as well. Ugh...

You could try eating some pretzels with your cake. they have a tendency to thicken things up and I've never seen any plain ones that have sugar in them.
