Christine, Yes, I do plan on having another surgery over the summer. I will have the remaining colon removed, the hernia repaired, a tummy tuck, and a permanent, end ileostomy.

I do not want to attempt a take down because I have wasted enough of my life on bowel movements. Plus, I still have to use enemas to rid my rectum of mucous and this is an indication that my rectum is still not working. Besides, I am feeling better than ever. I walk 4 miles per day and have even started to jog some.

I am still smoke free too. YAY It has been almost 9 months now.

Are you still using Coloplast? I got some coloplast samples and I liked the bags very much with the wider tail, which is easier to clean. So, I ordered some, the 2 piece. Well, all 5 of the wafers fell off! I was so pissed. I called coloplast and they think it is from my hernia???? Anyway, I am back to using Hollister's New Image, 2 piece because it is softer and sticks better to my bulging hernia.

I was using Convatec, but I started having issues with the output somehow getting under the wafer and then pushing the wafer off and making a mess on my clothes. I can't have failures like this when I am a bus driver. Oh goodness. Luckily, these messes have only been while I am at home.

Anyway, I will probably just stick with the Hollister since it has been working for me.

How are you doing?

Hi you sure are having problems.    Maybe the hernia is causing these issues.  I only use the one piece.  The ostomy nurse showed me the two piece system of the Coloplast and it was too much effort for my pea brain to absorb.  It looked like a hassle to get them on and off.  The one piece is a snap.
It's a shame they just didn't do the total colectomy with end ileo the first time around on you.  I cannot imagine having to undergo another operation.
Very proud of you smoking! yeah    My daughter's boyfriend stopped a few months ago too and he's doing great.  His dad died of lung cancer at age 61 back in September, so I think that scared him.
I'm doing really well.  Saw my surgeon last Tuesday.  He wanted to make sure I wasn't having any more problems inside the anus.  I thought I had a hemmie but he said it was a skin flap and gave me a salve to put on it.  The name escapes me now but it starts with a C.  It gives a cooling sensation.  He said there is no need to come back unless I start to have problems, which he doesn't anticipate.
Now I am having teeth problems.  The dentist did root canal, which was under a cap, so the cap had to be removed.  Then, he said he couldn't "find" one of the roots.  This was sheer torture.  Well, it took three visits to this dentist, he put the cap back on and I still can't eat on that side.  He better do something because I paid him $625!  If he has to pull it and put a plate in there, I want it done for free.  I'm starting to think this guy is a moron.
     Take care!!!
