I'm two days away from my surgery to form my j-pouch! I'm super excited to be moving forward with my surgeries, saying goodbye to my rectum and colostomy, hello to my ileostomy and finally getting over the waiting game. I want to thank everyone here for being so helpful over the past six months and I'm sure I'll have more questions since a loop ileo is so different from a colostomy. I know a few other people are having surgery this week and I want to wish them luck too. Please keep our surgeons' steady hands in your prayers as well as our speedy and complication free recoveries! turn

Good Luck to you both also. Hugs and Prayers and looking forward to your updates when you are up to posting.
64 yr old male suffered with UC & in May 06 had a severe flare & hospitalized 6 days...various prednisone treatments leading to steroid dependence and osteopenia, 12 asacol, 200 mg Imuran, failed remicade infusions Jan-May 2010 Dependence on pain meds. Made decision 6/10 to have surgery which was on 12/17/10 (total proctocolectomy & ileostomy - unable to have the j-pouch) and no longer in pain.

Remember afterwards WALK WALK WALK! I was literally forced up out of my bed because in both of my surgeries I was at the point where I wanted morphine and laying down 24/7 in the hospital. Once I started walking the way I was recovering was like night and day

Run4pancakes- how is pre-op treating you? Get through all the appointments okay? Sending good thoughts your way for tomorrow.

Pre-op is no joke, but things seem to run pretty smoothly at CC and we got through it all. I was happy to have them mark my stoma location where I expected it to go. I check in at 5:30 a.m. and should go into surgery around 7:30. I am really calm and just ready to get this done!
