hospital stay for takedown surgery

How long were you in the hospital after your takedown surgery?

I had a temporary ileostomy. I went in for the reversal on a Monday morning and was out Friday morning.

Be prepared for a LOT of gas and to do a lot of walking to get rid of the gas. Also be prepared for quite a few bowel movements when the dam does finally break.

I also had a temp ileo. Reversal Monday - home Saturday but with complications. I had a ileus which meant bowel went into 'sulk' mode, stomach blew up like a balloon and nothing worked. Was a bit grim.. apparently about 10-20% chance of it happening. Care wasn't great, so with proper prep (they didn't even give me a catheter - and turns out I retain urine when under General) you'll probably be ok.

August 2010 - Partial colectomy and temp ileostomy
October 2010 - Ileostomy reversal - but didn't go well and struggling since.
Currently - Investigating motility and bloating issues ...
