Did you drink the solution for your prep for takedown surgery? Its a long liquid diet .Gonna be hungry. No water 12 hrs before surgery.

No, my only instructions were nothing to eat or drink after 10pm the night before surgery.
DX UC - in 2005 when I was 37
Tried every drug-even Remicade-nothing worked
Step 1: J-pouch surgery (Laparoscopic restorative proctocolectomy w/ temporary diverting loop ileostomy)6-25-10
Step 2: Take down surgery (Ileostomy reversal)10/8/10
Very pleased with my results

I had to have a full clear liquid diet the day before, then had to drink the magnesium citrate at five pm. I was in the minority and thought it was ridiculous that I could have no food the day before. I snuck a couple crackers and it was fine because I did the prep. Do not get the purple flavor. It was so bad. I really don't know how I got through it. Actually my friend called right as I started and she was sweet enough to distract me while I drank it. It took me a half hr to drink the whole thing. It will be over soon and then you'll have your functioning j-pouch. Yea!
Diagnosed 2006. 1st step of 2 step j-pouch 1/3/11. 2nd step April 4, 2011. So done with this disease.

MY daughter just had her takedown on the 6th. No prep nothing to eat or drink after midnight. Ice chips after surgery and sips of water next day clear liquids, following day full liquids. Started her on regular diet and was told just to take it slow.
