Okay.. don't want to be too gross! But, I just had my first salad since my surgery in March. I was wondering, am I getting any nutrition out of this salad.. cause it seems like it is coming out the same as it went in. Do I even bother with eating them anymore?
Thanks! :)

Yep thats exactly how my salad comes out too lol, exactly how it went in and carrots I steer clear of mosly, but I love salad too. I can't see there would be any nutritional value in it for us, but don't know for sure

Not sure what kind of foods were in your salad.....basically, with our without a colon, your body absorbs most of the essential nutrients through the small intestines....your colon was acting as a fluid reservoir to take up water, other fluids, and some minerals (at least that's what I understand).
So, if your salad had some vegetables that had some vitamins, or fat, or carbs, or even protein, they would get absorbed in the small intestines.....some fluid will be lost due to no colon...but, generally, whatever your body would normally digest for nutrition with a colon, it will do the same without one......of course, how much nutrition is in lettuce?  not much.....I look forward to eating some raw foods in the coming months, but am stearing clear for now....I have eaten cooked vegetables in much moderation over the past two weeks.....and, am eating only canned fruit (which does have some nutrition).....
God Bless!

If I like something I eat it and not worry if I am getting any nutrients from it, and yes certain foods come out exactly as they went in. Sweetcorn, onions, nuts of any description, seeds - as in seeded bread and raw carrots that I can think of and lettuce comes out in tiny little bits.
