Ok surgeon wants to do loop ileo how much harder is the loop to take care of as opposed to the end? Is there a difference with closed loop ileo easier or such? He also said it's the size of a dime? What I've read it's suppose to be size of a quarter right? He said he would pull from ileum so... Thats right not to high up? He's being ultra conservative and wants to do this first cause of my age... Guess cause I'm early thirties... I know that shouldn't matter.
So away I go ;-)
Thanks everyone for any info ;-)

they do loops when you might get a jpouch (i think) but i'm not sure why it would be so small, and so high up, you should discuss that with him farther, if it's too high up you will have problems with it, mine is a few inches below my belly button and to the right of it, and it's one inch diameter.

No I must be incorrect where he is pulling it from it would be low but I am more concerned about the size of it a dime sounds awfully small..,

I have a loop Ileo. Have not had any problems with it. No leaks, blow outs etc. Just the occasional bag pop off due to the placement (my choice) I 1/2 in. above belly button due to loose skin lower. I do wear a new hope beld during the day as I have a small stoma hernia due to a bad cough and I sneeze alot. It has 1 draw back you do not have a round stoma mine is oval but as long as I use the eakin seals I have had no skin problems. I basically when i change clean with water, then dry, wipe with a skin barrier, dry again, measure, put eakin on base plate and slap it on, sometimes i use a blow dryer to heat it up to get a good stick to it. I change 2 x per week (my choice) mondays and fridays. Trixiemom

Thanks trixie,
I just wanted to check how is your output is it more watery because it's a loop or is it now thicker consistency what I'm trying figure out is besides the shape of the stoma does it behave just like an end ileo?

Lifeinterrupted....My loop output goes from liquid to thick depends on what I eat. Not to get graphic but if I eat cooked broccoli my output is green and thick. In the hospital it was mushy/liquid. Now after 5 1/2 months I have light liquid output in the morning to thick later in the day and sometimes liquid. Sorry my output is all over the place. Right now i am cutting back on the carbs (trying to lose weight) so it is more liquid. You can pm me if you need more info.....Trixiemom
