Hi,

Just wanted to see if anyone else experiences very watery output first thing in the morning?

Almost daily I'll have about 50-150ml of yellow/brown very watery output that starts coming out in the first hour after I wake.

Normal routine is empty it when I wake and then in another 1 to 1.5hrs I'll empty out the watery bits. Then I can get 2-4hrs till the next empty and it will be thicker.

Anyone else encountered this? I figured it may be stomach acid or etc produced overnight.

Anyone been able to reduce it?

Cheers

I share the same experience but I'm on some really potent diarrhea preventing drugs, Questran and Sandostatin in addition to the usual Lomotil and Immodium. Since I eat nothing after 6:00 PM I attribute the watery stools to being bile which is left after the gut is empty.

Btw,my output is so great that I can fill a 12" bag in short order. The other night around midnight I got up to empty it and when I got back in bed, before my feet became warm again I had already filled it again!

My output is very watery in the morning too. It's brown, and I usually just have to empty it when I get up, and then a bit more before I shower. Then I'm good to go til early afternoon, when it's thicker.

Dave, that's a drag....

Its just cause you haven't eaten in a while mine is like that too. Usually I wake up empty then get ready or do whatever and empty again then I'm good for hours unless I eat a big breakfast or something

I find mine is like this when you haven't been eating recently, its just like if you hadn't ate and were throwing up, its would be sorta yellow, like stomach acid and bile.

As long as I eat before going to bed mine is thick...if I don't eat for a while before going to bed it is more liquid...and the type of food eaten makes a difference, too!

You may want to try eating different things to see if you can thicken it. Fiber supplements work, too, to thicken things.

Cheers,

....and after posting that this morning it was thick - but then it's been very thick all day since.

I've been getting a food diary to try and work out what is going on. After 6 weeks I've worked out that there is nothing I can't eat so far but my output thickness has a mind of its own.

I'll eat and drink the same foods on days and have completely different results!

I did find that stress doesn't help - makes things very watery!

I've been using metamucil / psyllium and find that some days it works great at thickening the stool but some days not at all. Still trying to test with drinking slowly throughout the day / avoiding liquids at meals / etc. To see the results.

I do know that imodium didn't do much when I first had my ileo [possibly coz the hospital gave me capsules] but now working out how to use it when needed.

word of warning, its very bad to eat applesauce right before bed! as it somehow triples in amount, lol.
