Made my decision

Hey everyone
 
For those of you who have been following my struggles over the past several months.... i have decided to go back to the ileo - it makes sense cause i cannot go on like this. sad
 
I am of course still apprehensive but i have nothing to lose do i. rolleyes
 
Lets see what happens then when i see consultant end May.

Karen: 49 years old
1997: Diagnosed IBS
2003: Pelvic Floor repair
2006: STARR procedure - mucosal prolapse/ODS/diagnosed slow transit constipation
2007: Sigmoid resection (MRI showed twist) - made colonic inertia worse (cleared obstruction though)
March 2009: Total colectomy with ileorectal join and loop ileostomy
23 Sept 2010: Ileostomy reversal - not going well

Sorry things didn't work out quite the way you hoped or planned. You have the right attitude and outlook. Once the surgery, healing and adjustment is out of the way you will be better off. It's no fun to continually be sick if you can do something to change things. Good Luck.
 
(My husband's surgery in Dec. was based on the hope that it would have also been the formation of the j-pouch and takedown 3-4 months later.  Wasn't possible....some disappointment for not getting the opportunity to have a shot at it..........but looking back and evaluating everything and the fact it probably would not have been a good thing for him anyway we have accepted it and are adjusting very well.)

hi Karen, i know how hard the decision was for you. it was very hard for me too, like you, lots of tears shed over the disappointmet and realizing that's the only choice for me.. but i'm SO glad i went for it!! as UC wife said, once the surgery and healing etc was over, i was able to appreciate the stoma and how good i feel thanks to it and able to live a much better life. the minut i realized that, i loved my stoma. good luck sweetie and pls let us know how you're doing. sending you a big hug!!

Know it isn't an easy decision when you think things were going to turn out differently but I'm sure once it is all done and you have your life back the reason you made the decision will become much clearer. Good luck with your appointment.
Crohn's dx 1989, loop ileo 1992, end ileo 1992. Arthritis developed 1990 Stoma abcess 1995. Azathioprine started 1995. Panprocolorectomy 1999. Stillbirth 2000, antiphospholipid syndrome dx 2000. Flare up 2004, stoma abcess and strictoplasty 2004. Low blood pressure dx with impaired kidney function 2006, fludrocortisone pres. flare up 2010, steroids, Humira, codeine.

have been thinking about you lots and wondering how you were. Not an easy decision to make I'm sure (understatement of the year) but sounds like the right one for you hun.. You are being very brave and I have no doubts this will be the right thing for you! keep your chin up hun and good luck with everything. Will be thinking of you lots and sending you big hugs and healing thoughts. I have got EVERYTHING crossed for you x
