I'm 5 weeks post surgery - temp ileostomy and proctocolectomy. I have been dehydrated etc and not had the need to pass urine. But for the past couple of weeks (starting while I was still in hospital) I have had the need to go for a wee but most of the time I have to sit on the loo for ages trying to actually go then eventually it does. Now sometimes when I try to go nothing at all will come out even thought I have the urge to go. Its weird...ny ideas?!

Did you have a catheter in the hospital? I know I was numb and things were weird with urination for a bit due to that .... but that was only for a few days, not weeks. Did you contact your surgeon about this? That's what I'd recommend.

Does not sound fun, hope it resolves soon.

Thank you for your reply...I had catheter for about 3 days straight after surgery, and I didn't notice a problem urinating until about 3 weeks later. I have a follow up appointment with my surgeon in a couple of weeks so I'll bring it up with him then.
