Hi, I have been suffering from bowel dysfunction, adhesions n constipation for nearly 5 years now, I've had every test done, n all sorts of treatments but nothing has worked. So now my surgeon has suggested colostomy surgery, but Im not sure if I should have it done, can someone please help.

HI aarchi.. welcome and really sorry to hear your story. You've come to the right place.. there is a wealth of information on here and so many fantastic supportive people who've been through so much. Can you give us a few more details about the tests you've had and why do you have adhesions? have you had surgery before? which part of your bowel is affected? is your surgeon suggesting an ileostomy? there are a lot of people on here who have an ileostomy and live very happy lives.. much better than before. I'm in a similar position and considering a permanent ileostomy for colon dysmotility... had one before for a few months while recovering from round 2 of surgery and was better with it than I am now.

Hi, yes in July 2006 I had my appendix out, but still had same pains as before infact worser, then in November 2006 I had 2 be rushed in hospital again, 5 days after being admitted I was told I have small bowel obstruction, had surgery n removed half of my small bowel. I got adhesions with the 2 surgeries I've had, n since then I've been really bad keep ending up in hospital n being addmitted, can't work at all anymore, can't eat much n vomiting. I've had loads of tests, colonosopy a few times, bowel retaining, scans of bowel, 2 be honest I can't even remember most of the tests now. And currently Im suffering large bowel dysfunction, Im on tramadol medication.
