Hi All!!!

So .. I've been using the Adhesive coupling system and LOVE it! I have been gaining a bit of weight (snicker :)) and need to switch to convexity as suggested by my nurse.
So, do I still use the Eakin seals with it? I saw some posts about this a year back and there really wasn't a decision!!!

Coloplast is telling me I don't need the seal anymore ... but sometimes I think the seal is what keeps me from leaking.

Thanks!!

oh yes, def keep using the eakin seals. i also use coloplast sensura convex wafer, but w/o the adapt rings (we don't have eakin in my country), i'd leak within a day! there's no problem to keep using the eakin with a convex wafer.

Is there a downside to using a convex wafer vs flat?

well, i started with a flat one too and after few mons had to swhich to a convex, cuz my stoma got really retracted. at the first few weeks i did feel the convex wafer was less comfortable than the flat one, but now, after using it for few mons, i don't feel that anymore. now i feel totally comfortable with it.

You can use an Eakin Seal with convexity. It really is personal preference/performance...there isn't a right or wrong smilewinkgrin

I use the Coloplast Assura Extended Wear with deep convexity and I am never without an Eakin Seal yeah I get anywhere from 3 to 7 days wear time. It really depends on how well I center the hole to my stoma, the heat and if I've done a lot of running.

Glad things are going well smurf

My nurse switched me to a convex also, due to a soft belly (my stoma protrudes quite well). I was a bit miffed at first, but it really works a lot better; I've had no problems with leaking etc, and my skin just looks so clean when I take it off. She tried it w/out the eakin the first time, but my skin around the stoma got irritated, so I've been using it w/the eakin ever since, no problems.

I use the coloplast sensura one piece.

I am hoping that when my butt wound finally heals and I can swim again, that I won't have such a soft belly. But for now, the convex is great. It did take me a bit to get used to it being heavier and stiffer, but now that's fine.
