Are you trying to avoid as much as possible any foods/drinks that contribute to the gas? Also walk, walk, walk as often as you can even though it is difficult.

My husband's main pain/discomfort was due to the rear area sewn up which took about a month as I recall.

The gas type pain probably went away within a few weeks so hopefully you are very near to that stopping.
Wife of 64 yr old male suffered with UC & in May 06 had a severe flare & hospitalized 6 days...various prednisone treatments leading to steroid dependence and osteopenia, 12 asacol, 200 mg Imuran, failed remicade infusions Jan-May 2010 Dependence on pain meds. Made decision 6/10 to have surgery which was on 12/17/10 (total proctocolectomy & ileostomy - unable to have the j-pouch) & now pain free

Two weeks is still pretty early in your recovery. I was down for the count for a good month after step 1. Eat several small meals instead of regular larger ones. Drink plenty of water and move around as much as you can. I know it's hard but that really does help. You will feel better with each passing day. If at anytime you have a lot of pain or run a fever...call your dr. I ended up with an infection about 2 weeks after surgery. Feel better!
DX UC - in 2005 when I was 37
Tried every drug-even Remicade-nothing worked
Step 1: J-pouch surgery (Laparoscopic restorative proctocolectomy w/ temporary diverting loop ileostomy)6-25-10
Step 2: Take down surgery (Ileostomy reversal)10/8/10
Very pleased with my results
