So yesterday my trusty waffle pillow that I've been using every day for 4+ months, popped. I tried using some other pillows in the house, but they just weren't working that well, and I wanted something better. I have an appointment w/my surgeon in a few days and I think I'll be able to get another one then, but today is July 4th, and there's not a whole lot open.

So we went to Walgreens, but the only medical pillows they had were donut pillows, which would only make things worse, and so we looked around. We tried "pillow pets," which were very soft and might have been an option if I wanted to sit on a fluffy bright pink unicorn pillow on the subway cars and at work.

The dog beds might have worked, they were definitely more subtle than the pillow pets, but they were a little large ...

Then we settled on the beach toys. I tried water wings, but my bottom is bigger than a child's arm. Then my partner suggested beach balls (on sale, 2 for $1.49) and amazingly enough, a mildly inflated beach ball works pretty well, and has the advantage over the waffle pillow of being adjustable. My partner's daughter enjoyed watching from the back seat as I sunk down as I let air out of the ball.

So, we'll see if I can make it until Wed, although I do have a spare, and I guess could afford more.....

Just thought I'd share.

Well, I got a new waffle pillow today, but the beach ball has worked.... hasn't popped yet. My nurse seemed to be making a note of it. It's more portable than the pillow, and yesterday I just threw it in my bag when I went out to run some errands. I unexpectedly ran into a friend who was having tea and was able to pull out my beach ball pillow and join her. I think I'll keep using it for a backup like that..... although the waffle pillow is a lot better, of course.
