Not a teenager!
Colectomy in April and I finished tapering off the pred in May. ForĀ“the four months since then I've had a chin full of pimples, and rund my mouth. Unusual for me. I thought it had something to do with the large intestine no longer being there and having its influence on the skin, so my skin went a bit crazy. I've treated it fairly successfully with Benzperoxide and very extra-mild skin products for washing and moisturizing.
Has anyone experience this or have an explanation?

I had problems with extra pimples for a few months after pred tapers too. Also, it may just be stress related. Surgery is really stressful on the body and sometimes it reacts in different ways. My hair fell out for 6 months after my partial colectomy. It stopped after my 2nd surgery when the rest of the colon and rectum was removed. I'd give it another month or two and then maybe ask your regular doc or see a dermatologist about what you can do. I've always had slightly acne prone skin and have a lot of success keeping my breakouts down by using extra virgin coconut oil on my face at night. (Coconut products are great for skin and so many other things!) I would assume that since its not normal for you to breakout, its just due to the stress from surgery. try and keep your hands off your chin and just keep being gentle when you cleanse it. Hopefully it will let up soon!
