My son's skin has become red and irritated from the adhesive on the filter.  Putting a new filter on last night was a bit painfull and we tried to rotate the filter so that it sat on a different area of skin.   Does anyone have any ideas for remedies to reduce the inflammation and irritated skin?

thanks!

Oh goodness, I had this really bad. What products is he using now? He may consider applying a small piece of everything he's currently using to another part of his body and seeing which particular product is causing the reaction. Then cut that thing out of it's something you can go without. I turned out to be horribly allergic to the adhesive remover, and after cutting that out was fine. I also switched from the Hollister appliance to Coloplast, as they're supposed to have the most hypoallergenic adhesives. Initially, though, to calm down my angry skin, I had to see a dermatologist. He prescribed a steroid cream called Clobetasol which cleared up my problem lickety split! Best wishes!
Diagnosed with UC in 2007 at age 14. Three horrible flares, 11 blood transfusions. Tried, among others, prednisone (never worked), 6-MP (worked for a while), and Remicade (worked for a while) before running out of options and getting fed up. 3 step j-pouch; 1st 1/19/11, 2nd 4/20/11, minor complications, 3rd 8/24/11. Already LOVING my j-pouch!

Thanks!  He is currently using Holister filters and Uni-solve adhesive remover wipes.   Does the Coloplast appliance fit the Hollister bags?  His skin was raw when he took the appliance off last night (it started leaking around the caulking).  But the leaking was on the opposite side of where his skin is red and raw.
