Hi,

10months after my ileostomy surgery my surgeon wants to have a look at my small bowel and what remains of my colon.

He commented that they can do an ileoscopy and put a camera up the ileostomy. Has anyone had this done before?

Also, having a sigmoidoscopy to check if they can reverse the ileostomy in the future.

For these - the preparation I have been advised on is to fast from Midnight the night before - for a morning appt. And I'll get an enema in the morning.

Just wanted to check if you guys have had an experience with these with the ileostomy, what the prep is and whether it is uncomfortable after (gas pains or bleeding).

Thanks,

No actual bowel prep is needed...how nice, huh??!!! I've always done the enema right in the doc's office but I don't think that really matters.

Bring a change of supplies just in case the air (they put into your system) blows out your seal.

The procedures have always been pretty easy for me...they may/may not medicate you, I think that depends on your doctor.

Good Luck!!
