I had some kind of we shall call it thickened poop behind the stoma that needed blasting out with grape juice as I had localized pain behind stoma but the cooked to smitherines summer squash and
cookies that clumped up behind the stoma, melted down and blasted out with walking and the grape juice.
BUT, I have had actual stomal food blockages with bananas and potatoes. Those and this applesauce peach puree with pectin that I have to take to slow down sometimes actually turned poop so thick it was like it was from a normal person. To get it to even appear at the stoma I had to slug grape juice and hot tea and walk miles. I was like what the heck do I no longer possess digestive enzymes?????
Anyway, sorry you went through all you did, but I have found that anything except baby food banana is something I just cannot pass without tons of grape juice and miles of walking. I am 4 years out and my ileo is old. Now when it was new, I could eat a real banana, and in awhile it would all push out just fine. I would be able to see it going right into the bag. Who can figure?
Thickening foods: pasta, banana, potato, starchy stuff, rice, Thinning foods: grape juice, apple juice, chocolate, sugar, fake sugar, liquor (not to be used indiscriminately but wow does a few sips of wine shoot stuff right through me).
Just some tips from the experienced yet still experimenting. Rosemary
