The home health nurse called yesterday to check on Bill. He said he was fine but immediately after found he was leaking all over the place again. Since the RN was already on her way over, he just put towels over his belly and waited. She changed him when she got there. He didn't want to call me to come home from work. But it had been 72 hours since we had put the Convatec wafer with snap-in pouch in place. If we can get three days without a change, I feel successful!
Bill said that although he does not correspond (he is a one finger typist and terrible speller), he does appreciate all of the help this board has given us. He wanted me to say thank you to all!
We see oncologist tomorrow to discuss whether or not he will have chemo after the ileostomy reversal in July. For Bill, the statistics have to be pretty impressive to go through with more chemo. He wants to get back to his part-time job in August as a crossing guard and feels he could not do that if he does the chemo. Our daughter is getting married in November as well and he wants to be well enough to walk her down the aisle and enjoy the wedding. So those numbers better be pretty darned impressive (or the side-effects VERY minor).
Have a great week everyone!
