I went to my follow-up appt today and surgeon thinks everything is healing nicely. We are watching one spot for possible pyoderma, but my surgeon doesn't think it's anything. I hope he's right.
As for the allergies, so far, so good again. I thought I was allergic to adhesives/silicone based on my symptoms, but it turns out I have a lot of sensitivities to products, one of them being isopropyl alcohol for sure. That means no more adhesive removers or most skin preps for me. Without using those things, the rash under my appliance is clearing up. Things are looking up and I hope they stay that way.
I also went to the dermatologist after my follow-up and was diagnosed with eczema/contact dermatitis that I developed after testing a patch of skin on my arm with the isopropyl. The rash traveled all the way up and down my arm. I am supposed to go for patch testing next week to see what all of the exact culprits are, but that would mean 3 days of traveling back and forth to the city, and I am not sure if I want to take the chance that the patches will really irritate my skin two days before we leave for vacation. I may put it off until the following week. With the rash clearing up, I am glad I have the play room and it is not as important I deal with this now.
